Brad Close Named NFIB President

Date: March 05, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 24, 2020) The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, announced today that Brad Close has been unanimously elected by the board of directors as the organization’s next President. Close has been serving as Acting President since December and has been with NFIB for more than 18 years.

“Brad has been a key leader at NFIB for many years, and we are thrilled that he is our next President,” said Tom Bryce, Chairman of the NFIB Board of Directors. “Since the start of his career on Capitol Hill to his nearly two decades with NFIB, he’s demonstrated an unrivaled commitment to the cause of small business. We are confident in him and eager to see NFIB flourish under his leadership.”

As NFIB’s new chief executive officer, Brad will focus on advancing NFIB’s advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C. and in the states. NFIB has an unmatched 50-state network and grassroots operation, fighting for small business owners.

“NFIB plays a unique role in Washington and our state capitals, and I look forward to leading the fight for America’s small businesses,” said Close. “Far too often, federal and state governments try to make decisions without taking into account how they impact the small business economy. For decades, NFIB has been the voice of small businesses, ensuring the government understands and meets their needs. It is an honor to lead those efforts.”

Prior to being named President, Brad served as Senior Vice President for Public Policy. He guided NFIB’s lobbying efforts that led to the creation of the Small Business Deduction, included as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. During this time, Brad integrated NFIB’s advocacy resources, including federal and state Government Relations, Political, and Grassroots, into one cohesive team. He led a state policy team with offices in all 50 state capitals and oversaw the NFIB Research Center and political and nonprofit fundraising operations.
