Washington, D.C. (August 9, 2016) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading representative of small business owners, is endorsing Tom Garrett for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District. Garrett’s commitment to issues that small business owners care about makes him an ideal candidate for Congress.

“As a business owner and NFIB member, Tom Garrett knows the challenges facing small businesses,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “We know he would fight for lower taxes and against regulations that strangle job growth. Small business owners want to see him in Congress next year.”

“As a state senator, Tom Garrett has a proven record of standing up for small employers in Virginia,” said NFIB/Virginia State Director Nicole Riley. “He has fought efforts to increase government spending and taxes in Richmond, and would bring this expertise to Washington. We are confident he’ll continue to be a big voice for small business in the U.S. House.”

Garrett’s endorsement today comes from the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political action committee.  Small business owners vote in high percentages and they are influential in their communities.  NFIB members in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District will work hard to send Tom Garrett to Congress.
