Small Business Community Urges Congress to Pass COVID-19 Recovery Legislation

Date: December 21, 2020

NFIB to Key Vote the Consolidated Appropriations Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 21, 2020) –The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, issued the following statement from Vice President of Federal Government Relations Kevin Kuhlman in response to the introduction of the COVID-19 recovery legislation today:

“The passage of this bill will provide urgent assistance to America’s small businesses. The legislation provides much needed, targeted Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding to struggling small businesses, a vital financial assistance tool proven to be a lifeline during this time of uncertainty and government-imposed shutdowns. Additionally, the bill improves upon current PPP loans by protecting small businesses from surprise tax increases, streamlining the loan forgiveness process, and improving the interaction between PPP and other relief programs. This nightmare is far from over for small businesses, but this bill will provide necessary relief for the New Year. NFIB will Key Vote in support of the Consolidated Appropriations Act and we urge Congress to pass this important legislation.”
