Looking at government operations like a business owner
Sen. Scott Wagner is an NFIB member. He is the owner of Penn Waste and KBS Trucking in York County. Recently Wagner attended an NFIB member legislative meeting in DuBois, hosted by Paris Companies. Wagner explained to the companies in attendance that he uses a business owner’s viewpoint when scrutinizing the operations of state government.
As a member of the PA Senate, he is seeking accountability and transparency in government spending. In that vein, Wagner has formed the Taxpayers Caucus, which has published a workbook of ideas on where to cut government spending and waste or to find funds without raising taxes.
Wagner often tells other NFIB members how, as a business owner, he became so frustrated with state government, he decided to run for office. He was first elected to the State Senate in March 2014, winning a special election.
