NFIB CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR-ELECT TOM WOLF ON VICTORY

Date: November 05, 2014

HARRISBURG)
Nov. 4, 2014 – The National Federation of Independent Business in Pennsylvania
(NFIB) congratulated Governor-elect Tom Wolf on his election victory tonight.
Preliminary election returns show Wolf leading Tom Corbett and Corbett has
conceded.

“As
an association representing 15,000 small businesses in the state, NFIB supports
policies that lead to economic growth and hiring at those companies,” said
Kevin Shivers, executive state director of NFIB. “Our members look forward to
working with Mr. Wolf on policies to accomplish that.

“We
are hopeful that the Governor-Elect will see that now is not the time to raise
taxes on Pennsylvania’s job creators,” Shivers added. “We look forward to
working with Wolf to improve Pennsylvania’s jobs climate for the betterment of
all Pennsylvanians.”

“Ninety-eight
percent of the companies in the Commonwealth are companies with less than one
hundred employees.  Almost half of
working Pennsylvanians are employed by small businesses.

“Small
businesses are a driving force in this state and their success is tied to the
promise of a better Pennsylvania. We hope for a smooth transition for our
Governor-Elect and we plan to soon schedule a time to sit down with Tom Wolf
and his staff to lay out our vision for the success of small businesses in the
state.

“Our
members are grateful to Governor Tom Corbett for working with NFIB during the
last four years to repeal the Inheritance Tax on small business and family
farms, fix the unemployment insurance system, and lower workers’ compensation
rates.”
