A Letter From Your Pennsylvania State Director

Date: January 14, 2020

Here's what's new at our Harrisburg office and more.

As we all get back to the realities of work and the promise of a new year, I wanted to provide you with a Harrisburg office update on some recent changes and our plans for 2020.

There have been two personnel changes here in Harrisburg.  Grassroots Margaret Parsons has resigned and moved on to a local association in another industry.   We do wish Margaret well in her new role, and express appreciation to her for her efforts to build Grassroots advocacy at NFIB.  And we have been joined by Deborah Adams as our new Administrative Assistant. Deb had spent many years in key roles with Tyco Products.  She is off to a very strong start in her new role.

Here in the office, we have just completed our annual coverage at the NFIB Farm Show Booth.  Our location was greatly improved this year as we moved into the original Main Hall, not far from the butter sculpture.  New small business owners joined NFIB, and we said hello to dozens of current members – many who shared that they were strong supporters over an extended numbers of years!  NFIB has a very strong Farm and Agri-business presence, and we are always thrilled to say hello to new friends and old at each year’s Pennsylvania Farm Show.

And finally, two upcoming events you will want to put on your schedule!

Our next Economic Forum has been scheduled for Monday, February 3rd at 11:00am at the Keystone Building next to the PA State Capitol.  We have invited NFIB’s chief economist Bill Dunkelberg to give an update on the economic picture for small business owners in 2020.  As you manage your business, the kind of information Bill will provide will be most helpful as you make key financial and managerial decisions. There is no cost to attend and lunch is provided. If you can join, please reserve your seat by calling Deb Adams at 717-232-8582 ext. 3

NFIB’s signature advocacy event each year is our Small Business Day!  This year, our event will begin with a member’s reception near the PA State Capital on the evening of April 6th.  Our reception is a friendly, casual social time in which NFIB small business owners can enjoy hospitality while visiting with the many elected Representatives and Senators who come.  The next morning, Tuesday, April 7th, our members will hear presentations by top elected officials and key association partners on the hot state government topics.  Following lunch, we will all troop up to the Capital to advocate on small business issues.  Small Business Day is a great opportunity to make new friends, learn what is happening in Harrisburg, and raise your voice in our state capital!

2020 will be a big year in Pennsylvania and in our nation.  NFIB is moving into the new year in a strong position to serve as your partner and your voice on the challenges you face as a small business owner.  Together, we are a strong voice working for small business success.  Thank you for being a part of NFIB, and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Sincerely,

Gordon Denlinger
NFIB State Director in Pennsylvania
