NFIB Endorses John Rafferty for Pennsylvania Attorney General

Date: October 03, 2016 Last Edit: October 17, 2016

HARRISBURG, (Oct. 12, 2016)
– The state’s leading small-business organization, the National Federation of
Independent Business (NFIB), today announced that it was marshaling its 14,000
members behind John Rafferty’s bid for state Attorney General. The group
announced that it would pull-out all of the stops over the next three weeks to
educate small-business owners about this vital public office and the need for
Pennsylvanians to elect a top prosecutor who actually has experience
prosecuting bad guys.

“John Rafferty will restore integrity to the
Office of Attorney General and small-business owners are proud to throw their
support behind his candidacy,” said NFIB Executive State Director Kevin
Shivers.

“This position simply is too
important to entrust to any candidate with no prosecutorial experience. This is
an office in crisis – its reputation sullied by a predecessor who was woefully
unqualified and who used the position to carry out their own partisan political
agenda and who ultimately was convicted for those actions.

“Frankly, small-business owners
have run out of patience electing candidates who need on-the-job training. John
Rafferty is ready right now.”

Shivers noted that as a former deputy
attorney general, a state senator, a businessman and community leader, John
would bring to the Attorney General’s office a unique set of qualifications and
skills that would help him to restore the confidence of all Pennsylvanians to
this top law enforcement position.

“John has a reputation as a
thoughtful and deliberate policymaker who cares more about the facts and rarely
rushes to judgement or makes politically-expedient decisions,” Shivers
continued. “Since taking office, Rafferty and his team have worked
collaboratively with NFIB on many initiatives that balance the need to protect
the public without impeding the ability of small-business owners to run and
grow their companies. These efforts have led to new laws to help protect the
rights of consumers and small business owners and their workers.”

The endorsement comes from
Pennsylvania’s NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the
association’s political action committee, and is based on prior voting records,
candidate questionnaires and candidate interviews.

Small-business owners and
their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting
friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will
encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote for the
candidates in the general election in November.
