NFIB Sees Unveiled 'Ohio Prosperity Plan' As Beneficial To Ohio Job Creators

Date: August 13, 2018

DeWine / Husted Plan Addresses a Number of Issues

Roger Geiger, Vice President and Executive Director of NFIB in Ohio, the state’s leading small business association, released the following statement regarding Mike DeWine and Jon Husted’s ‘Ohio Prosperity Plan,’ their job and economic growth plan, which they will implement as Governor and Lt. Governor of Ohio that was released on August 13, 2018.

“As we travel across Ohio, we hear directly what is on the minds of small business of all sizes in every community. One of the top priorities of Ohio entrepreneurs is to find qualified workers to hire,” said Roger Geiger, vice president/executive director of NFIB in Ohio.

“Ohio’s economic turnaround paired with significant tax reform is offering our members the financial ability to expand and grow. What they are finding is a disconnect with workforce development programs that can provide them the employees they need to hire to allow for this growth,” he continued.

“The release of Mike DeWine and Jon Husted’s ‘Ohio Prosperity Plan’ today addresses a number of impediments to hiring. Additionally, the common-sense approach to licensing reform is certainly welcome by Ohio job providers. Our state a myriad of licensure requirements imposed on those individuals not bound for college that make it more difficult to enter the workforce. Adding the reciprocity with other states in regards to licensing also makes a lot of sense.

“Finally, we are encouraged to see the recognition of a sensible approach to regulations that do not stifle job creation and expands the Common Sense Initiative, which has been beneficial in identifying those types of nonsensical regulations and removing those as impediments to job creation,” Geiger concluded.
