Election Report From State Director Tony Gagliardi

Date: November 07, 2014

The contest for governor of Wyoming ended with incumbent Matt Mead winning reelection with 62 percent of the vote. NFIB/Wyoming on behalf of its members offered the governor congratulations on his re-election and look forward to again working together for the betterment of Wyoming small-business owners.

NFIB/Wyoming endorsed in 13 Senate races with our candidates winning 12 of those contests. We also endorsed candidates in 41 races in the House of Representatives, 39 of them won. For a candidate to be eligible for NFIB’s endorsement, he or she must have had at least a 70-percent, pro-small-business voting record.

Election Day in Wyoming saw 65 percent of registered voters go to the polls. This number does not include Election Day registrations. Secretary of State Max Maxfield announced that based on the unofficial election results submitted by county clerks, it appears as if no statutory recounts are required in any legislative race.

Maxfield said that according to state statute W.S. 22-16-109, a recount is required if the number of votes between the winning and losing candidate is less than one percent of the votes cast for the winning candidate.
