Joint Committee on Finance Needs to Hear Your Voice As Legislature Puts Together State Budget
WISCONISN SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS: Members of the Joint Committee on Finance want to hear your views about taxes, fees, and spending as the legislature develops the 2023-24 state budget.
The committee has scheduled public hearings at locations around the state to gather information, hear your views, and answer your questions.
These meetings will provide a unique opportunity for you to participate in the process of establishing state tax and spending priorities over the next two years.
It is expected that many topics important to small businesses will be discussed at these hearings, including taxation, burdensome regulations, employment law, and employer mandates such as paid family and medical leave, fair employment laws, and paid time off. This represents a troubling trend we have seen in many states which calls on small business owners to shoulder the burden of added mandates which increase the cost of doing business in the state.
It has also been reported the budget includes an 18% increase in state spending, $60 billion more that just twenty years ago. Further, plans are in the works to increase the size of state government, hiring 800 new employees.
It is vitally important that your state Assembly and Senate members hear from you as these budget items are considered and put forth before the legislature this spring! you can TAKE ACTION HERE!!!
