Governor Tony Evers says he wants to continue to build the state’s economy from the ground up “starting with our small businesses, our Main Streets, and the hearts of our communities.”
During his State of the State address, he announced he will propose $50 million be allocated for the Main Street Bounce Back Grant Program to assist small businesses with day to day expenses, $5 million to provide small business owners with technical assistance and educational training to “ensure they have the support they need for continued success.”
In addition, Governor Evers said the State would invest $100 million to “develop innovative ideas and locally based projects that will support our workforce and economic development.”
According to the Governor, the Main Street Grant Program has “helped more than 8,500 Wisconsin small businesses expand and move into vacant store fronts in communities across all 72 counties.”
The Governor’s budget proposal, which will be introduced later in February, will be referred to the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance for review and revision.
