LISTEN: TX Economy Improving, but Small Business Owners Struggle to Find Qualified Job Applicants

NFIB State Director Annie Spilman talked to NewsRadio 1080 KRLD in Dallas on Tuesday about the latest NFIB Small Business Optimism Index.

Spilman said the state’s economy is showing clear signs of improvement. “What that means is customers are really getting out there, wanting to participate in life again and spend money again, and people are placing orders.” The challenge for small business owners, she said, is finding enough qualified workers to meet the increased demand.

“Where we’re seeing some of the lagging is in the labor shortage and really just being to fill the positions so they can service the customers or complete orders.”
