NFIB: Virginia Needs Tax Reform, Not More Spending

Date: December 18, 2018

Nicole Riley, NFIB’s state director for Virginia, Nicole Riley, says Gov. Ralph Northam’s budget proposal doesn’t do enough to help small businesses.

“It’s a step in the right direction, but it’s a small step,” she says. “Virginia should do something besides comply with federal law. We need real reform to ease the tax burden on individuals and small businesses. Virginia hasn’t significantly changed its tax code in over 30 years. Real reform is long overdue, and it’s not more government spending.

“Our members are ready to work with their legislators and Governor Northam to find commonsense reforms that will make it easier for small businesses to grow and create jobs.”
