NFIB’s state director for Tennessee, Jim Brown, released the following statement today in response to Gov. Bill Lee’s call to repeal the state amusement tax on gym memberships.
“NFIB members across Tennessee are thrilled Governor Lee is prioritizing eliminating the discriminatory tax on workouts at small gyms. Owners of fitness, gym, barre, yoga, and other workout studios made their voices heard the last few months, and leaders are listening. As a result, more entrepreneurs are expected to open more gyms sooner across the state and help improve the health of thousands of Tennesseans.

“NFIB encourages gym owners and their customers to thank Governor Lee and Senate and House leaders for moving in a great direction and to ensure Tennessee ‘tosses the tax’ this year on small gyms and fitness centers,” Brown said.
