The Rhode Island 2018 Statewide Primary has been moved to Wednesday, September 12, due to a religious holiday.

The 2018 Primary involves selecting the party nominees for one of two U.S. Senate races, all the congressional seats, the Republican and Democrat candidates for Governor, state House and Senate, and local school boards races.

August 13th was the voter registration deadline. If you missed it, you can still register to vote in the General Election up until October 7. Next Wednesday, August 22, is the deadline for mailing in absentee ballots for the Primary Election.

There is a way to cast your ballot if circumstances arise within 20 days of an election that prevent you from voting on election day. Voters can apply for an emergency mail ballot and vote at the local board of canvassers until 4 P.M. on the day before the election.
