Date: April 14, 2020

Rhode Island Businesses Must Issue Cloth Face Coverings to Workers

Governor Gina Raimondo signed a new executive order mandating all businesses issue cloth face coverings to workers. The order goes into effect on Saturday, April 18th.

This is required for retailers, office workers, manufacturers, and any other customer-facing businesses. The only listed exemptions are for people who cannot wear a mask due to health reasons or children under 2 years of age. Employers are also being asked to post signs requiring their customers to wear masks as well.

The state will conduct business spot checks on Saturday to gauge compliance.

Rhode Island Commerce has posted a link on how to obtain or make face coverings for workers: https://commerceri.com/masks/.
