PA DEP grants available for pollution control and energy conservation

Date: July 30, 2017

Small businesses with fewer than 100 employees are eligible

The PA Department of Environmental Protection has just opened the application process for Small Business Advantage Grants. One million dollars is available to Pennsylvania companies with fewer than  100 employees for projects that will reduce energy use or control pollution.

Companies can receive a 50% reimbursement match on new equipment or processes which save a minimum of $500 and reduce their energy or waste by 25% a year. The grant maximum is $9,500 for energy efficiency or pollution projects and $7,000 for lighting-only upgrades.

Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.  In 2016 DEP exhausted its grant funds in a little over three months, so they urge small businesses to apply early.

This year for the first time, there will be an online only application process, making it easier to apply and resulting in a quicker turnaround time. Paper applications will not be accepted.

All the information about the Small Business Advantage Grant including what documents are required, the changes to the grant program this year, and a webinar on how to apply online can be found on the PA DEP Ombudsman’s web page (CLICK HERE). The phone number for that office is 717-772-5160.
