NFIB Urges Gov. Shapiro, General Assembly to Move on Small Business Priorities, Looks Forward to Making Progress Together

Date: January 17, 2023

Tax and regulatory relief key to improving the business environment in the Keystone State

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HARRISBURG (Jan. 17, 2023) – Josh Shapiro was sworn in today as the Commonwealth’s 48th Governor, and NFIB State Director Greg Moreland issued the following statement urging the new administration and legislators to keep small businesses’ interests in mind:

“Small business is the backbone of Pennsylvania’s economy, anchoring Main Streets across the state and creating a majority of all net new jobs. There is much work to be done to ensure small businesses in Pennsylvania can thrive. Local job creators continue to pay an inequitable and onerous share of the tax burden and face a myriad of challenges posed by state regulatory agencies daily. Further, new legislative threats and regulatory burdens loom on the agenda. NFIB stands ready to work with Governor Josh Shapiro, his cabinet members, and the Senate and House to adopt policies that help improve the business environment for small businesses in Pennsylvania.”
