BISMARCK, N.D., Dec. 3, 2018—The 116th Congress of the United States and the 66th session of the North Dakota Legislature open for business shortly after the first of the year but the nation’s largest and leading small-business association is wasting no time in preparing its members for what it sees as the biggest fight of all: Stopping every attempt to peel back and chip away at the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Tim Goodrich, NFIB’s executive director of state governmental relations, will visit with NFIB members in Dickinson, tomorrow, Tuesday, December 4, at 8:30 a.m. at Baker Boy, 170 GTA Drive. Later in the day, he’ll meet with Bismarck-area NFIB members and invited elected officials in the Senate Chamber Conference Room at the State Capitol at 3 p.m. in Bismarck.

The media are invited to attend the meetings.

“Preserving every bit of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, especially the provision giving small-business owners a 20 percent deduction, transcends all other local, state, and federal issues,” said Tim Goodrich, NFIB’s executive director of state governmental relations. “That deduction has led to record highs in small-business optimism, hiring, and employee compensation unseen in our lifetime. There will be no retreating on it without elected officials getting the biggest fight of their political lives.”

Goodrich will also discuss the top state issues facing small-business owners and the progress on the search for a North Dakota state director, following the unexpected passing of Rae Ann Kelsch.
