Nine Legislators Receive Top Honor as Champions For New York’s Small Businesses

Albany, Oct. 24, 2018 —NFIB in New York, the state’s leading small-business association, honored six state senators and three members of Assembly as 2018 Guardians of Small Business. The nine recipients, listed below, received at least an 85-percent ranking in NFIB’s state legislative Voting Record, voting in line with NFIB’s position on at least 7 of 8 scored key votes and demonstrating a clear commitment to small business priorities during the most recent legislative session.

The Guardian of Small Business Award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small business issues and their passionate advocacy in Albany on behalf of small and independently owned companies.

“It’s no secret that New York State can be a difficult place to start or grow a small business. Thankfully some lawmakers continue to work every day in the Capitol to address our tax burden, reform our regulatory environment, and create an economic climate that invites investment and small business growth,” said Greg Biryla, NFIB’s NY State Director.
