The Outcome of the New Jersey Elections

Date: November 19, 2020

The only New Jersey legislature races in the November election were the special election seats in the 25th district for Republican incumbents, Anthony Bucco for Senate, and Aura Dunn for Assembly. The Democrat challengers, candidates Rupande Mehta for Senate, and Darcy Draeger for Assembly both led on election night, but their leads were lost as ballot counting continued. Both Bucco and Dunn will be returning to Trenton representing Morris and Somerset County.

In the 7th Congressional district, New Jersey State Senate Republican Majority Leader Tom Kean, who was endorsed by NFIB, challenged one-term Congressman Tom Malinowski. Malinowski defeated Kean 50.6% to 49.4%.  As a result, there were no changes in the New Jersey Congressional delegation and Cory Booker was elected to his second US Senate term.
