SMALL BUSINESS ADVISES LAWMAKERS TO STOP MANDATORY PAID LEAVE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE
TRENTON (March 7, 2016): The following remarks may be
attributed to Laurie Ehlbeck, New Jersey state director for the National
Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) regarding today’s action on paid
leave legislation by the Senate Labor Committee:
If implemented, mandatory
paid leave will no doubt come at a high cost to small businesses and will
certainly have a serious effect on jobs and the economy in our state. We
implore members of the full Senate to take into account the detrimental impact
that imposing such a mandate will have on job creation and the difficulty that
the small business sector will have in absorbing the price of this legislation.
