NFIB Announces New State Director in New Jersey

Date: January 22, 2020

Eileen Kean will advocate for thousands of NFIB members at state Capitol in Trenton

TRENTON, January 6, 2020 – NFIB, an association representing thousands of small and independently-owned businesses in New Jersey, today named Eileen Kean as its state director. Kean, who has decades of experience at the state Capitol, will assure the voices of those small business owners are heard by lawmakers on issues that impact their daily operations and ability to succeed. Small businesses contribute significantly to the state’s GDP and bring economic stability and jobs to communities across the Garden State.

“NFIB is elated to have Eileen Kean representing our New Jersey small business members because she brings vast government relations and business experience to the table,” said NFIB’s Executive Director of State Government Relations, Tim Goodrich. “Small business owners can be negatively impacted by increased costs or rigid labor mandates, and any number of legislative proposals can threaten their very existence. Eileen will be able to explain to lawmakers the impact bills could have on a small business owners’ daily operation or their success in the marketplace.”

Kean, a partner at Komjathy and Kean, has decades of lobbying experience both in Trenton and Washington, D.C. She has developed many relationships at the state Capitol while representing both associations and private businesses. Currently, Kean serves as a Commissioner for the Monmouth County Board of Elections, is a trustee for Drumthwacket, the official residence of the Governor, and serves as a member of the NJ Board of Pharmacy. Previously, she was Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey and president of the Deal School Board of Education.

“I look forward to advocating for small business owners who are risk takers, job creators, and pillars of their communities,” said State Director of NFIB in New Jersey, Eileen Kean. “These entrepreneurs are busy people working long hours to grow their businesses. I will ensure their voices are heard loud and clear by policymakers in Trenton so they can focus on what they do best.”
