Small business owners learn how to work with the state

On Wednesday, June 12th, NFIB and Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce members gathered to network and learn about how they can work more effectively with the state of New Jersey. NFIB Leadership Council member Chuck Garrity hosted the event at his business, Death of the Fox Brewing Company in Clarksboro. “Brewing Up Small Business Success: How to Work Effectively with State Government” was a joint venture between NFIB, the Gloucester Chamber of Commerce, and the New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC).

Melanie Willoughby, Executive Director of NJBAC, gave an overview of what type of services they provide. She explained how NJBAC is a resource for small business owners to get answers from government agencies, direct business owners to appropriate officials, facilitate meetings and follow-ups with regulatory agencies, and to help businesses grow. Ms. Willoughby took questions from the audience about permits, licensing, and navigating the business climate in New Jersey.

NFIB New Jersey State Director Laurie Ehlbeck thanked NFIB and Gloucester County Chamber members for coming to the event. She also gave an update about the budget proceedings in Trenton. The small business owners at the event included printing companies, oil and gas, financial consulting, as well as local brewery owners. It was a great opportunity to network with other business owners and to learn how to work effectively with the State of New Jersey.
