Top Lawmakers Brief NFIB Members on Legislative Agenda

Date: May 01, 2018

Leadership council meeting received direct reports on bills helping or hurting small business

Tough to pull a lawmaker out of committee or off the floor of the House or Senate to address a group visiting the State Capitol—unless your group happens to represent the most highly regarded people in every community: Small-business owners.

At a March 7 meeting of NFIB Minnesota’s Leadership Council, influential legislators took some time away from their busy schedules to brief visiting small-business owners on the bills circulating the State Capitol that either deserve Main Street’s full support or need rallying to stop from passing.

“No legislator ever wants to get cross-wise with the people that research has shown are the most highly regarded and politically trustworthy in the nation,” said Mike Hickey, Minnesota state director for NFIB. “That’s why our legislative meetings at the State Capitol are one of the most circled events on lawmakers’ calendars.” Click here to read a one-page analysis of The Power of the Small Business Vote.
