NFIB members heard the latest from Washington D.C.
NFIB members in Southern Minnesota heard from their newest member of Congress on August 21st. Representative Jim Hagedorn was sworn into office this past January and spoke at a round table at Mankato Golf Club about his new role representing small business owners in Washington D.C.
The Congressman told NFIB members that being a Republican in the House right now is tough. Representative Hagedorn said the House Majority is not very small business-friendly and that passing a small business agenda is going to be a challenge. In particular, the Congressman singled out health insurance, saying that issue has been the most frustrating to talk about with the majority. Rep. Hagedorn also spoke about a few ideas he would like to try to revise the current Obamacare law.

Congressman Hagedorn was just sworn in this year and represents Minnesota’s 1st congressional district. He was born in Blue Earth and grew up on a soybean and hog farm. In 1974, Jim’s father was elected to Congress and the kids split their time between D.C. and southern Minnesota. After college, he served as a legislative aid for a different Minnesota member of Congress and then headed over to the U.S. Department of Treasury. In Congress, he serves on the Committee on Small Business.
