Lawmakers Scored on Key Small Business Issues
LANSING, October 2, 2018 – The state’s leading small business organization, NFIB, released its small business voting record today for the 2018 session of the Michigan legislature.
“While the NFIB Voting Record does not reflect all elements considered by a lawmaker when voting, it is a valuable guide to examining a legislator’s attitude toward small business,” said Charlie Owens, State Director for NFIB in Michigan. “Anything above 70-percent is considered a passing grade and the higher the percentage the more a lawmaker has voted for the pro-small business position.”
Owens said that the Voting Record will be distributed to all NFIB small business members in the state before the November elections as a guide for supporting lawmakers that have proven they stand by small business with their votes on bills before the legislature.
“Those legislators scoring above 70-percent on our Vote Record obviously understand the importance of small business and how vital it is to the state’s economy,” said Owens. “Michigan has come a long way since the days of the ‘lost decade’ and is finally back on track. This election will be important to keeping our state moving forward.”
