NFIB Holds Meeting for New Massachusetts Legislators

Date: March 01, 2023

Small business owners spoke with lawmakers some of the issues affecting the state's job creators

NFIB held a virtual meeting on March 1 with new state representatives and senators. This event gave NFIB the opportunity to introduce key small business issues to lawmakers serving in office for the first time.

Three NFIB small business owners spoke with lawmakers about various topics that affect the cost of doing business in Massachusetts. Michael Kane of 126 Self Storage covered taxation and the need to support estate tax reform, Jeanne Bell of Westside Finishing explained the impact of rising healthcare costs for small businesses and their workers, and Tom Erb of Electric Time talked about ever-increasing energy expenses.

NFIB State Director Christopher Carlozzi asked lawmakers to consider additional money for the unemployment insurance trust fund, while also highlighting several labor mandate bills that will further drive-up operating costs.

NFIB will continue to help educate policymakers on how the decisions made on Beacon Hill impact small business job creation and economic growth.
