Speakers at Maryland Small Business Day including NFIB State Director Mike O’Halloran, President of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Christine Ross, Delegate Warren Miller, and Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford all had the same message – get involved! With the push for paid leave looming and a variety of issues that could impact small business on the table in Annapolis, speakers stressed the importance of contacting your legislators and letting them know how these bills would affect your business and employees. There are many ways to get involved, you can email or call your legislators, testify at a bill hearing or speak with the media. What’s most important is that you share your personalized story and provide details about how a piece of legislation would impact your business with your elected officials.
“What I took away from yesterday is that I need to KEEP contacting various officials,” said NFIB Member Laurel Cox.
Following the speaker portion of the event, small business owners and legislators mingled and talked about issues during our Small Business Reception
