NFIB Official Visits Members in Bismarck, Dickinson

Date: December 05, 2018

Information exchange centers on small-business agenda for Congress, Legislature

NFIB’s Tim Goodrich, executive director of state governmental relations, visited members in Bismarck and Dickinson December 4 to get their refinements on the small-business agenda for the next sessions of Congress and the North Dakota Legislature.

At the Dickinson event, member Scott Olin, owner of Dickison Ready Mix, helped organize the meeting, which was held at NFIB-member business Baker Boy. Guy Moos, president of Baker Boy, told Goodrich and the assembled how important the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was in helping him expand his business and purchase new equipment.

Small business was not part of the Act until NFIB stepped in and won a 20 percent deduction for its members and all small-business owners in the nation.

Later in the day at the State Capitol, Sen. Majority Leader Rich Warder provided NFIB members with a legislative briefing on the 2019 session. The senator had arranged the Senate chamber conference room for NFIB’s use. Goodrich thanked Warder for making NFIB members feel welcomed and for his support of NFIB’s agenda.

NFIB is the only association that centers its lobbying positions in Bismarck and Washington D.C. solely on what its members tell it through annual balloting are the key issues affecting their ability to own, operate, and grow their businesses. Ballot results, member briefings, and regular visits to member businesses make NFIB the true Voice of Small Business.
