NFIB State Director Dawn Starns released the following statement today on legislation that would raise taxes on Louisiana’s small businesses:
“Congress just passed historic tax reforms that are helping small businesses expand and create jobs, but some Louisiana legislators are doing everything they can to erase those savings. They’re working behind closed doors on legislation to raise our taxes. Washington is letting us keep the money we earn, but Baton Rouge is trying to take it all away.
“One of the first lessons you learn as a small business owner is that you have to live within your means. You have to stick to a budget. That’s a lesson some members of the state Legislature need to learn, too.
“The Legislature is out until Wednesday. We’re urging our members to tell their legislators to stop picking our pockets and vote ‘no’ on any legislation to raise our taxes.”
