TAKE ACTION: MANDATED PAID LEAVE

Date: March 14, 2017

The final vote on mandated paid leave bill SB230 was delayed until Wednesday March 15. Several senators from both sides of the isle have voiced concern over the bill’s impact on the small business community. The Senate was working on amending the bill which could provide some relief. Even with amendments this bill could have a devastating impact on the small business community. It’s important that you contact your Senator and ask him/her to oppose SB230.

HB1, has already received the approval of the House. The bill will require that businesses with 15 or more employees to provide at least one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours an employee works, or seven days a year. Businesses with fewer than 15 employees are required to provide unpaid days off.

Even if you have already contacted your senator, PLEASE TAKE ACTION again or use our “find your official” tool to find your senator’s phone number and call his/her office.

Thank you to everyone who takes action, we will keep you updated on these important issues.
