SMALL BUSINESS APPLAUDS WORKERS COMPENSATION REFORMS

Date: March 02, 2017

DES MOINES (March 2, 2017): In response to the action that both the House and Senate Commerce Committees took this evening on HSB 169 and SSB1170, the following statement may be attributed to the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Iowa State Director, Matt Everson.

We applaud the effort to reform our existing worker’s compensation laws to better balance an employee’s need for medical care and replacement income when injured on the job with a small business owners basic right to have a more predictable and cost effective policy in place.

In order for Iowa small businesses to remain competitive and continue to expand by creating additional jobs, regulatory reform must be prioritized, and this bill is an excellent example of creating a legislative environment that will promote economic growth across the state.
