SMALL BUSINESS APPLAUDS SENATE PREEMPTION

Date: March 27, 2017

DES MOINES (March 27, 2017): In response to the Senate’s action today on preemption, the following statement may be attributed to the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Iowa State Director, Matt Everson:

Pre-empting municipalities from unilaterally implementing minimum wage increases and other employment mandates that are inconsistent with the rest of the state is pivotal to ensuring that small businesses are not subject to overwhelming regulations from town to town. This bill prevents the possibility of hundreds of regulatory regimes from cropping up in Iowa creating an unpredictable landscape for small business.
