Retirement Plan Compliance Seminar for Small Biz in Des Moines

The U.S. Department of Labor will hold a briefing on July 17.

NFIB wants to let you know there is a free briefing for small businesses owners in Des Moines providing information on how to comply with the federally required fiduciary duties if you offer a retirement plan. The event is sponsored by the US Dept. of Labor and it will be held Wednesday, July 17. The event begins at 8:30 am and ends at 5 pm. It will be held at at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel, 401 Locust Street, in Des Moines, 50309.

The seminar, called Getting it Right—Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities, will cover:

  • Understanding your plan and responsibilities
  • Carefully selecting and monitoring service providers
  • Making contributions on time
  • Avoiding prohibited transactions
  • Making appropriate disclosures to plan participants, and filing annual reports on time
