NFIB says 72 Texas lawmakers — 14 members of the Senate, 58 members of the House — earned 100 percent NFIB voting records in last year’s legislative session.
They sided with small businesses on issues ranging from property tax reform to rural broadband to workforce development.
“Our members appreciate everything these legislators did to help create and maintain an environment where small businesses can grow and create jobs,” said Annie Spilman, NFIB’s state director for Texas.
“A lot of these legislators own and operate small businesses in their districts,” Spilman said. “They understand the challenges our members face in starting and operating their enterprises.”
Spilman noted that the NFIB Voting Record does not reflect every element considered by a legislator when voting or represent a complete profile of the lawmaker. NFIB’s 2019 Voting Record included six key votes on property tax reform, rural access to broadband, post-disaster tax exemptions, project labor agreements, workforce development, and lawsuit reform.
