NFIB’s Indiana PAC Endorses Hal Slager for State Representative

Date: September 28, 2020

“We support the candidates that support small business!”

The state’s leading small business organization, NFIB, announced today that its state political action committee in Indiana, the NFIB Indiana PAC, had endorsed Hal Slager in his bid for re-election for his old seat in District 15 in the upcoming 2020 General Election.

“Hal Slager is an old friend of small business. I enjoyed working for him when he was in the Indiana legislature, where he had a solid small business voting record,” said NFIB State Director in Indiana, Barbara Quandt. “We need people like Hal at the Capitol to defend small business issues and stand up for small business owners. Right now, many of our small business owners here in Indiana are hurting. The pandemic has forced many out of business and others are struggling to survive. Before Hoosiers head to the polls in November, they need to be reminded of the people who will stand up for small business owners – people like Hal – who can advocate for the entrepreneurs who keep the wheels of Indiana’s economy running.”

The PAC took several things into consideration before endorsement, but one of the most important tools it uses is NFIB’s voting record, which you can find here. NFIB’s State Director, Barbara Quandt, took 17 key bills during 2019-2020 and scored legislators on how they voted. The voting record is also an important tool our members use before they decide which candidate to vote for. While Hal Slager wasn’t in office for the 2019-2020 voting record, he does have an excellent small business voting record with NIFB from 2012-2018.

The NFIB Indiana PAC’s endorsement is important to these campaigns. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB’s political support is based on the candidates’ positions and records on key small-business issues.
