Indiana Sen. Aaron Freeman Receives Prestigious Small Business Award

Date: October 27, 2020

Senator Freeman Championed Small Business Bills

NFIB, or the National Federation of Independent Business, Indiana’s leading small business organization, is proud to announce that a great friend of small business, Aaron Freeman, is the latest recipient of the Guardian of Small Business award. The award is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small business on key issues.

NFIB State Director in Indiana, Barbara Quandt, presented Senator Freeman the award at Wanamaker Feed and Seed in Indianapolis. Sen. Freeman represents District 32, which includes Indianapolis and Marion County. He was first elected in 2016. Sen. Freeman is a small business owner himself, operating The Freeman Law Office. Sen. Freeman loves being a small business owner because he loves the freedom of having his destiny in his own hands. His biggest small business accomplishment is authoring legislation that doubled the business personal property tax exemption from $20,000 to $40,000. Sen. Freeman has a 93% small business voting record.

“Sen. Freeman has championed a number of pro-small business bills during his time at the Capitol,” said NFIB State Director in Indiana, Barbara Quandt. “As a small business owner himself, he understands what a devastating time it is right now for our Hoosier entrepreneurs. We appreciate all the hard work he has done to fight for small business owners in the legislature and I have full confidence he will continue to do so as we recover from this economic and health pandemic.”

“I’ve tried to focus on what really matters at the statehouse. I am honored to receive the Guardian of Small Business award from NFIB. I will always work to ensure Hoosiers have great job opportunities. Small businesses have always been the lifeblood of Indiana’s economy and will continue to be as Indiana moves forward from the current economic recession. It is my priority to ensure they have the necessary tools for success and to reduce government roadblocks in their path,” said Sen. Aaron Freeman.

NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small business on the key issues identified by small business owners. Those who voted with small business on key issues during the 2019-2020 Indiana legislative session earned the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award. NFIB informs lawmakers in advance which votes will be considered NFIB Key Votes and asks lawmakers to support the consensus views of our members. We also remind them that the results will be reported back to the NFIB membership.
