Davis will advocate in Springfield on behalf of Illinois small-business owners
December 15, 2021 (Springfield) – The nation’s leading small-business association, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), today announced that Chris Davis has been named the organization’s State Director in Illinois. Davis will be responsible for all aspects of the organization’s state advocacy, operations, political engagement, communications, and programming on behalf of NFIB’s thousands of members across the state. Davis will be stepping into the position upon the retirement of current State Director Mark Grant at the end of this year.
“We are very pleased to have Chris Davis joining our team as State Director,” said Charles Owens, NFIB’s Region Director for Illinois. “Chris is a respected government relations professional with more than a decade of experience, most recently working for the SITE (Serving Industry Through Excellence) Improvement Association as Government Affairs Director. He will bring to NFIB a solid understanding of the process and a track record of advocacy experience.”
In addition to his experience at the SITE Improvement Association, Davis worked for the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois as their Vice President of Government relations. He was also the Director of Labor Relations for the Central Illinois Builders of Associated General Contractors from 2013 to 2016 and Government Affairs Director with the Home Builders Association of Illinois from 2005 to 2012. He served on House Republican staff from 1999 to 2004. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN and is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE).
“I am excited for the opportunity to be serving in an organization whose members are integral to Illinois culture and economy,” said Davis. “I look forward to working on the serious challenges that Illinois small and independent businesses must face every day.”
