A reminder to all Massachusetts business owners with 6 or more employees that the Health Insurance Responsibility Disclosure (HIRD) Forms must once again be filed with the state. Unlike the previous version of the form, this is only an employer form that will need to be completed annually and does not require personal information about your employees.
The HIRD reporting period will begin November 1, 2018 and end on November 30, 2018. The form may be filed by you or your payroll company on MassTaxConnect. If you use a payroll company make certain they are aware that the form must be filed, because it is the employer that is responsible for the form’s completion.
The form is being used to collect information about an employers’ health insurance offerings to their workers. There are no new fines or penalties being levied from the data collected in the form and this is not directly related to the Employer Medical Assistance Contribution (EMAC) assessment. The information gathered will be used by MassHealth to identify members with qualifying employer sponsored coverage who may be eligible for Premium Assistance programs.
