Legislation That Could Impact WV Small Business

The second session of the 84th West Virginia Legislature kicked off last Wednesday, Jan. 8. As the Legislature gears up for an election in November, Mitch Carmichael (Jackson) returns to his role as President of the Senate, and Roger Hanshaw (Clay) returns to his role as Speaker of the House of Delegates.

Speaker Hanshaw identified the establishment of the West Virginia Impact Fund to further economic development, infrastructure development and job creation as a legislative priority. President Carmichael identified the elimination of the personal property tax on business inventory, machinery and equipment and the establishment of an intermediate appellate court as legislative priorities.
