Slip and Fall Signed into Law

Date: April 15, 2010

This legislation was one of our major priorities during this session, and we are pleased to bring this success to our members.

Late Wednesday, Gov. Crist signed into law the slip-and-fall legislation. Under this bill, if an accident occurs at a business, the consumer who is injured must prove that negligence by the business owner caused the accident. Prior to the passage of this legislation, the burden of proof was not on the plaintiff, leaving businesses largely unprotected in the event of accidents.

This legislation was one of our major priorities during this session, and we are pleased to bring this success to our members.
