Sen. Rubio, Rep. Donalds Join NFIB Florida Members for Virtual Fly-In

Date: June 24, 2021

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Byron Donalds (19th District) met separately today with small business owners from across the state as part of NFIB’s Virtual Fly-In.

Ordinarily, NFIB members gather in Washington, D.C., each summer to learn more about the issues affecting America’s small businesses and meet with lawmakers and their staffs on Capitol Hill, but because of concerns over the pandemic, this year’s event was held online.

“It’s been a very tough year for a lot of you,” Senator Rubio said. “It’s a good time, businesses are reopening, economic activity is coming back, but now we face sort of this triple-pandemic of the availability of labor, inflationary pressure, and some of the threats we’re seeing of tax increases and other public policies. We jump from one problem to another, but you can count on us to be working on your behalf on all of these things.”

Representative Donalds said, “I think you have a lot of good people who serve up here on Capitol Hill, who want to do the right thing by small business. They understand they are the lifeblood of their communities and the lifeblood of the country.”

NFIB State Executive Director Bill Herrle said, “We wish we could have met with Senator Rubio and Congressman Donalds in person, but this was a terrific opportunity for our members to hear directly from these leaders on the issues that matter most to them.”
