NFIB State Executive Director Bill Herrle says this year’s sales tax holiday on back-to-school supplies and clothes is coming at a critical time for Florida’s small businesses.
“It’s been a rough spring and summer for local merchants,” Herrle said. “Stores were forced to close because of the coronavirus, and they’ve had to invest in supplies and equipment to keep their employees and customers safe. By shopping small this weekend, people can support the local economy and help these independent businesses avoid having to close for good.”
According to a report by American Express, 67 cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the community. It also creates an additional 50 cents in local business activity as employees and owners purchase local goods and services.
