Releases 2016 Incumbent Endorsements
LANSING, MI – The
state’s leading small business organization, the National Federation of
Independent Business (NFIB) announced that their political action committee –
the NFIB/Michigan SAFE Trust – has released its list of endorsed incumbent candidates for
the upcoming 2016 State House elections.
“After a careful review we have found that these candidates
have a keen understanding of the problems facing family businesses and their
employees,” said Charles Owens, NFIB State Director. “We wish them all success in the upcoming
primary election and we look forward to working with them in the general
election and the Michigan legislature.”
Owens said the endorsements of incumbent state lawmakers running for reelection were made by the NFIB/Michigan
SAFE Trust PAC based on their 2015 – 2016 Voting
Record. “Lawmakers voting to rein in state government and balance
the budget through spending cuts rather than tax hikes received high marks,”
said Owens. “Those legislators scoring
above 70 percent on our Vote Record obviously understand the importance of
small business and how vital it is to the state’s economy.”
Owens indicated that the 2015-2016 Small Business Vote
Record is now posted to the NFIB website and can be downloaded HERE. The Vote Record will also be mailed out to members in
the coming weeks. Owens also said that NFIB would be notifying members in
the various districts of the NFIB support for the candidates.
When the dust clears from this week’s primary, look for the
NFIB Michigan Safe Trust endorsements for candidates that have succeeded in
their primary races as well.
