The NFIB North Carolina PAC today endorsed three candidates for the state Supreme Court and five candidates for the state Court of Appeals. The political action committee is comprised solely of NFIB members in North Carolina.
“It’s critically important to have a judiciary that is fair and impartial but understands the issues affecting the small-business community,” NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson said.
“We need judges who truly believe in a level playing field and won’t favor one side or another or try to legislate from the bench,” Thompson said. “That’s why the NFIB North Carolina PAC is proud to endorse these candidates for seats on the state judiciary.”
The NFIB North Carolina PAC endorsed:
Supreme Court
Paul Newby, Chief Justice
Phil Berger Jr., Associate Justice, Seat 2
Tamara Barringer, Associate Justice, Seat4
Court of Appeals
April Wood, Appellate Judge, 4th Seat
Willie Fred Gore, Appellate Judge, 5th Seat
Chris Dillon, Appellate Judge, 6th Seat
Jeffrey Carpenter, Appellate Judge, 7th Seat
Jefferson Griffin, Appellate Judge, 13th Seat
Today’s endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state’s small businesses behind the candidates’ campaigns. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to vote. NFIB will encourage its North Carolina members to help turn out the powerful small-business voting bloc on Election Day.
