Flint Business Owner Elected Chairman of NFIB Leadership Council

LANSING, Mich., Feb. 13, 2018—The state’s leading small-business organization, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), today announced the election of Joe Cozart, president and CEO of Teachout Security Solutions located in Flint, as chairman of the organization’s Leadership Council. Cozart will serve a two-year term on the council.

Founded in 1981, Teachout Security Solutions provides security officers for the health-care industry, industrial, educational, and banking operations. With the company headquarters in Flint, offices are also located in Indianapolis, Saginaw, Lansing, Southfield, Kalamazoo, and Jackson. Teachout currently has just over 500 employees. Joe and his company were recently featured in an article in My City Magazine.

The NFIB Michigan Leadership Council is comprised of small-business owners who provide direct NFIB membership input and counsel into the public policy, programs, and membership development agenda of NFIB. Members of the Leadership Council serve in an advisory capacity on policy as NFIB’s positions on issues are determined by a vote of the members on federal and state ballots – surveys.

Founded in 1943, the mission of NFIB is to promote and protect the right of small-business owners to own, operate, and grow their businesses. The association has more than 10,000 small-business members in Michigan and 325,000 members nationwide. 

“We are excited to have Joe serving on the Leadership Council,” said Charlie Owens, Michigan state director for NFIB. “All of our small-business members will benefit from his leadership and insight as we tackle the difficult issues facing small business in Michigan.”
