Small business is the engine that drives West Virginia’s economy. On Election Day, we need to support the candidates who will support small business.
Here are some of the issues we’ll be facing when lawmakers return to Charleston in 2019.
Taxes on Business
NFIB will continue to fight any proposals that hurt small business. Tax increases create a hostile environment for creating and attracting jobs for the state. West Virginia continues to need job growth and NFIB will oppose any legislation that stifles job growth within the state.
Inventory Tax
NFIB continues to support the elimination of taxes on manufacturing machinery and equipment and manufacturing inventory. This effort requires a constitutional amendment and did not move forward during the most recent legislative session.
Mandatory Health Insurance
This issue did not move forward this year, as the public hearing was scheduled for the first day of the teacher’s strike. However, should this issue receive committee consideration next year NFIB will continue to oppose and fight any legislation introduced requiring the purchase of health insurance.
