In 2017, Wisconsin’s tourism industry grew again, this time to $20.6 billion, a $631 million increase from the year before.
Tourism volume has increased since 2011—a total of 17.5 percent, and by 110 million visitors. As a result, about 195,000 jobs are now supported by this sector of the economy, and for every dollar spent on tourism advertising, $7 was returned in additional tax revenue. State visitors also generated $1.5 billion in state and local revenue and $1.2 billion in federal taxes.
“The travel and hospitality industry continues to be crucial to our state and is consistently a top performing sector of our economy,” Gov. Walker said in a press release.
