Georgia lawmakers are weighing a longer summer for students.
Shorter summers may hurt the state’s tourism business, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The committee is recommending that “school starts within a week to ten days of the first Monday in September and wrap up around June 1,” according to the paper. “That would create close to a three-month summer break, which is better for businesses that depend on tourism and vacationers.”
“For Georgia small businesses clustered in the tourism industry, this could increase sales and customers,” said NFIB State Director Nathan Humphrey.
